Dr. Justin Ball is a Doctor of Music, audio engineer, photographer and videographer in Tallahassee, FL. Some things that set me apart from other digital creators. 1. MUSICIAN Well, for one, I am a DOCTOR of Music in Percussion Performance. One of the things I've learned from studying music is how to truly listen, and not just in a musical sense. When you listen to music, you don't just hear it. When it's GOOD.......you FEEL it.... So, when I'm shooting or editing music videos, real estate, interviews, or even just a live performance shot with 2 cams, I have an EDUCATED, comprehensive understanding of the musical contour (journey) from beginning to end, all of the little rhythmic details that make it pop, where the phrase endings, transitions and climax are, and how that translates into video production. 2. The Technical Aspect of Media Creation One of the differences between percussionists and other musicians is the technical aspect, because we're the time keepers of the band. We're the ones driving the bus, so we've gotta be perfectly in time, every time, or it's unacceptable... That drive to dig into the microscopic details really influenced my approach to media production, because I immediately saw it through that musical lens... I understood the importance of building a strong foundation., and took care that I developed a full mastery of the fundamentals before jumping prematurely into something that I probably couldn't handle. 3. 10 Years Teaching Experience I taught in public schools for 5 years, and I'm currently starting my 6th year of collegiate teaching. I'm super thankful for this experience and how has informed my abvility to successfully communicate with people, clients, friends, and even my family. Another thing I learned from teaching is how crucial planning is. Each time you meet with your students, you're limited by time constraints, and the only way to stay on track every day is by following a detailed, time-bulleted lesson plan. This not only informs my esitimation of how long it will take to shoot, edit and deliver a project, but how much SHOULD be done in one day. As both a student and teacher, you also develiop a keen sense of clarity and delivery....... How something is written vs. how something is said......How to strengthen a statement that's said with 12 words by cutting it down to 5....
