Looking for traveling videographers for dance competition events for our 2024/202... season! Ideally, you will have action shooting experience, whether that's in dance, theater, gymnastics, or sports; competition dance experience is a plus! But feel free to reach out, even as a student of videography, with the skills needed to get the job done, but not quite the experience to show that off to us. Just make sure to send us some samples displaying a sense of your work! While this position is mostly just video work, it does involve setup and breakdown of gear provided from us at the events, including but not limited to a sales station, as well as some uploading post event as needed. No extra post processing work is required. Operation during the event involves operation from a stationary position, tethered, monitoring of audio, and recording of the routines via an announced number system on a laptop. As such, it is important to be present, clearly hear routine numbers, annotate them on the laptop, and always continue to listen in on the event for start and stop cues. These events are often all day, fast paced with long hours, but with appropriate breaks. You have the option to operate the camera as you wish, provided the equipment, or you may bring your own support system, provided they are allowed onto the premise. Food will be provided by the event, from us, or you will receive meal compensation as necessary. Same Day Productions provides photo and video for many events throughout the year, using a network of contractors just like you. These positions travel the country, including large cities, but also in small towns, and anywhere in between a short flight away goes! Preference will be given to those who can travel unrestricted, nationally. Room, travel and appropriate incidentals are always covered, plus you’ll get the opportunity to work and learn alongside your peers from other parts of the states. · Limited experience required in a live action videography situation, preference to those with experience, especially those with experience with dance OR live action events, or limited experience but with a portfolio. Familiarity with the dance world a plus. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY WITHOUT EXPERIENCE. Any posts not including samples will be automatically rejected! · Must be 18 and pass a background check; preference to those with a license to drive, and 25/21 . · Pay is based on completion of entire weekend project, based on a daily work rate. Total hours are usually less than 30 per weekend, over 3 days. This includes shorter days on the first/last day, with the first usually being setup only, at half a day rate. A deviation from this usually involves an extra day on the tail end, with hours at about or less than 9. · Appropriate breaks throughout the event. This includes short restroom breaks, and larger meal breaks. · Room is available at all non-local events, provided so that you can get proper rest. Local event room is based on location and turn-around time. · Wages are distributed bi-weekly, though invoice at the end of the event, paid out through the ADP Payroll Company. · Audio monitoring is required, so a set of personal noise blocking monitors are recommended due to the loud nature of these events. · LOCATION: Please note that this is a traveling position. While there are usually a large number of local events, it is safe to assume that you will be needed at events that will not be local. Because of this, and because we do not cover transportation to the airport (all other on-site travel is covered), we are only looking for those local to ORD/MDW or those that are okay traveling to the airport on their own accord.
