Hi! We are launching the beta version of a new, free app that lets everyone more easily share and get paid for videos and photos of local news and information. Here is how our process works: a registered member uploads newsworthy videos or photos to our site first and then shares from our apps to their social network protected by our watermark. Once uploaded, we instantly alert interested news media buyers of the new upload so that they can license online in less than a minute, paying a rights-managed license fee; and the contributor (or their charity) earns half of all license fees. Licenses are non-exclusive, so good imagery can be licensed many times. All other members also get to see and share new uploads, helping amplify important imagery beyond the contributor's own friends and family network. We offer much better pay for local news than the few pennies of ad-revenue sharing possible from YouTube, and at the same time amplify important imagery that otherwise may not be seen. To help test and launch our beta apps, NowArchive is encouraging a handful of new users to upload ‘hard’ news videos by offering a small stipend of $10 per event/upload; this stipend is in addition to the 50% license fee that an upload can earn if picked up by news media. What is ‘hard’ news? It is the more dramatic stuff that happens in every town every day - fires, accidents, police activity, government failures, illegal acts, etc. Basically anything that you might see on a TV newscast or a local news website. Our service is also for ‘soft’ news (community events, water-wasting during drought, feel-good happenings) and “news” is anything people you do not know may want to see; but for this gig, we are only commissioning hard news submissions. Interested? The deal is easy - before August 5, get the app (Android or iOS), read the FAQ, register if you are interested, and then send us an email with your username to [email protected] telling us you accept the challenge. We will track what you upload, confirm when a submission is ‘hard’ news, and pay you by PayPal or mailed check. Want to know more about NowArchive? We are the first visual discovery platform combined with a marketplace – mobile-centric apps that make newsworthy videos and photos from everyone instantly available for all members to see and share and for news media to buy. As easy to use as Instagram, providing more local news and info than Twitter and social networks, and getting folks paid fairly. Check us out!
