My two years of experience producing independent and student-led productions has given me passion for cinematic storytelling, digital video editing, and audio production. I developed these skills as a Digital Media Production student at the University of Central Missouri. During my studies, I participated in several on-campus organizations which encouraged my creative, critical thinking, and organizational skills. Furthermore, I honed my communication, teamwork, and writing/editing skills while serving as Editor-in-Chief for Arcade, UCM’s student-run literary journal. As Editor-in-Chief for Arcade, UCM’s student-run literary review, I sharpened my communication, teamwork, and writing and editing skills. My involvement as a cinematographer for the UCM Filmmakers and Actors Coalition allowed me to apply classroom knowledge to realistic situations. These activities introduced me to the fast-paced industry of media content creation. Finally, I am familiar with equipment necessary for strong quality film or video, audio recording and editing, and several lighting techniques. Over the last two years, I have fiercely dedicated myself to learning film. This study challenged me to set high goals and expectations of myself. This summer, I traveled to Esteli, Nicaragua. I worked as a cinematographer on a student-based documentary crew. Our subject was Luz Verde, a social entrepreneurship composed of several outreach programs. One program called El Libro Volador (The Magic Book) focused on working with rural schools’ curriculums to provide complimentary programs. This work solidified my interest and passion for video production.
